Vietnamese Youth Volunteers support for typhoon victims in Middle Vietnam in 2006 (Binh Minh, Thang Binh, Quang Nam province) |
“7pm this Saturday, everyone let’s try to join the online meeting. We are ready to make plans for organizing a meaningful Mid Festival for the kids in all North, Middle and South.”
That message from Singapore of Vietnamese Youth Volunteer’s President Nguyen Dinh Quy was continuously clicked by members of www.olympiavn.org/forum
Share and Demand.
“Everyone! Let’s take the name “Flame of Heart”. It can express the feeling of our youth; we are the young people who do volunteer activities, aren’t we?” “No! We must take “Sunflower”, because it can speak up for our hearts and our views”…
The members, some from Sai Gon, some from Ha Noi, Da Nang, etc., each of whom had an idea and conclusively fought for them. Finally, Nguyen Dinh Quy and the management decided to choose the name “Vietnamese Youth Volunteer”. “The Vietnamese young people first need to have knowledge and awareness to affirm the “Vietnamese Youth Volunteer” brand name with friends all over the world”- President of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteer Nguyen Dinh Quy shared via the internet.
Nguyen Dinh Quy himself has also strived to build and express that “brand name” when he was in the year round of “Path to the Olympia Peak”. Simultaneously, with good results in studying, Quy was also given full scholarship for PhD researching student and is currently an assistant professor at NTU University, Singapore.
At the first stage, the management created boxes for Literature, Math, English, etc. updated much sufficiently the information and documents for each subject. The members, most of whom are high school students, want to climb “Path to the Olympia Peak- VTV3”. Tons of questions are asked in “Library of Exam Questions” box to challenge people who want to discover humans’ knowledge.
“The more you get, the more you want”, the “future Olympians” demanded to organize Olympus online contest, a form of online “Path to the Olympia Peak”, on every Sunday afternoon, so that the members would have opportunities to demonstrate their ability of conquering knowledge. After each online contest, besides “Virtual Laurel Wreath”, the prize for the winner was knowledgeable books sent to them via mail.
The heart of Vietnamese Youth Volunteer
The management decided that the members have to join online meetings every Saturday morning to keep track and plan particular activities in each area. Pham Van Thang in South, Tran Thi Ngoc An in Middle, and Duong Thi Thanh Tam in South are responsible for co-coordinating and disseminating the information according to the situation of each area.
The President Nguyen Dinh Quy, from Singapore, is in charge of general. From then, the kids in Ha Cau Orphanage (Ha Dong village) are familiar to Nguyen Xuan Hieu (sophomore of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering), Nguyen Thi Mong Diep (senior of Ho Xuan Huong high school), Hue Giang (student of Foreign Trade University), etc. of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteer, who come not only to help them with their study, but also to teach good behaviors, and tell them old stories, etc.
Particularly the visit to Chanchu storm’s victims of Vietnamese Youth Volunteer in Middle made Nguyen Thi Gai (4th grade student of Binh Minh elementary school)’s mother moved when taking her daughter to receive the gift, “They ‘re that young but have known to think of others”. The girl named Tu Uyen, “spectacularly cross the mountain” member, who is just a rising 10th grade this year (Tam Ky, Quang Nam), woke up from 5am to catch the bus to Binh Minh and join the trip. Uyen pretended to be mature, “I also want to contribute to affirm Vietnamese Youth Volunteer brand name.”
About 4,000 members of Vietnamese Youth Volunteer are hectic to execute “Build Website Advertising and Distributing Products for the Social Units” project written by the President Nguyen Dinh Quy and Nguyen Minh Hai Nguyen.
This project got into the final round of “Live for the Community” contest, which was co-organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper, British Council, and Prudential. However, firstly, all is promising to organize at the same time a very meaningful Mid Festival for the children in difficult situations throughout the country.
