Noel 2006 – “Warm hearts”
In the winter, the streets budge gently so people can listen in the wind the soft breath of life. Familiar streets are still crowded with stream of people. That’s the hurry of the Noel season- the gathering season, the season of best wishes. The story of the Little Match Girl gently wakes up our hearts with never-ending compassionate melody. Vietnamese Youth Volunteer organization- Olympia community (http://forum.olympiavn.net) together with students of National Economic University (association of fellow-countrymen Hung Yen) made a very meaningful Xmas night: Noel 2006- Warm hearts. Loving spread from heart to heart, smiles on the children’s lips illuminated the surroundings.

The idea for the event “Noel 2006- Warm hearts” was begun by members of VYV in Hanoi from the beginning of November. The purpose of this event is to create a warm Xmas night for children that have difficult conditions. In short meetings, the members gathered to organize a plan for the event. The management board and all the members in Hanoi completed all the stuffs like surveying Hanoi to find an appropriate place, contents and preparations for the event. The place for this significant Xmas night was the Friendly orphanage house I – No. 48, Thai Thinh II lane. The hurry to prepare for the event warmed all the hearts as the time flowed.
A week before holding the event, the group received co-celebration with students from National Economic University. The presence of the blue-shirt volunteers of students from National Economic University gave strength and contributed a considerable part to the success of the event.
At 7pm on Dec 21st, the event officially began with a very significant lively scene of students from National Economic University, which warmed the atmosphere of a gelid winter night. “Angel smiles” of children, sweet singing voice of a VYV member with “We wish you a merry Christmas” are like best wishes for a propitious Xmas. Surprised by the fashion show “Legendary characters in myself” (by students from National Economic University and the children), all the people smiled with thunderous applause. They truly admired the sudden inspiration dancing performance of 2 kids from the orphanage house, got excited by the game “Pursue images, catch words”, etc. Eventually “the old Noel lady” gave presents for the children. The gifts were pairs of shoes, pens (bought by the fund of the group and students from National Economic University), together with the hope to warm the children’s hearts on the Xmas night, in the gelid winter.
In the end of the night, board of directors of the house encouraged, praised the group and students from National Economic University, then shook hands and sang with them as well as the children, which warmed the whole room. VYV will again find “Legends in the daily life” by a series of coming events such as: Calling to support for compatriots in the No 9 storm- Durian, an “imposing” plan for Lunar New Year, etc with a view to contributing a small part so that the matches that burn in coldness can warm the spirits of disadvantageds when the spring is coming.
